The iPhone 3GS now has a 3 megapixel digital camera which while not as good
as some other phones is still easily good enough for casual use and will give
you some great photos. It also now has auto focus and so taking great pictures
is now very easy.
The iPhone also has some exceptional digital photo management which allows you to do all kinds of things with your photos and also easily transfer them onto other devices.
There are mobile phones that have a higher megapixel rating but you are never going to need that extra detail on a hand held device and the extra detail will just make the photos bigger and need more memory to store. If however you are planning on transferring the photos onto a larger screen or printing them in large formats then you may be better off with a digital camera that has a higher resolution.
